Obituary for Garabed S. Keorkunian

Garabed “Gary Cory” Keorkunian, of Hatboro, died, Saturday, March 24. He was 81. He was the son of the late Sarkis and Ovsanna (Iskenian) Keorkunian

He proudly served in the U. S. Army. He became a U.S. citizen and learned to speak and type fluent English. He also spoke several languages with Armenian as his first language, followed by Arabic, Turkish and English. He was the former owner of several restaurants and dance studios in Philadelphia and Michigan, including the first dance studio to offer belly dancing in Philadelphia. He was known for his talent as a dance performer and teacher in Latin, Disco, and Ballroom dancing. Those who knew him well and were closest to him, referred to him as a phenomenal man. He is loved, honored immensely, will be missed and never forgotten.

His children hold him dear in their hearts and acknowledge the gifts he has given them of love, strength, humor, intelligence, ambition, confidence, and talent.

He is survived by his three children, Gary S. Keorkunian, Bonnie E. Dubil and Tammy S. Keorkunian; his three grandchildren, Amber Dubil, Melanie Dubil, Zoe Dubil, and his great grandchild, Maddison Carnavil.

A memorial service will be held privately.
